Ok I several ideas for how Kages should work. Now first of all I know a lot of you aren't gonna like some of these but just think long term with me.
Option A) Elections Once every so often a poll comes up asking the members of a particular village who they want to be their Kage and if they elect a new one, the electee fights the current and the winner becomes Kage till the next election.
Option B) Infinite Span (posters favorite) Kages are assigned and remained Kages until they resign or are removed by the powers that be (The Staff) This allows for a greater sense of permenency and forces people to cooperate with their village governement or become Missing Ninjas or plot some kind of Revolution. This is the most Anime accurate option
Option C) Challenges Possibly the most irritating option, Challenges make it so if a Kage is challenged they must fight for their title which is good in principle but when acctually tested isnt that great of an idea because very little is accomplished if the title is constantly changeing hands based on numerous fluke wins or loses. This ultimately can lead to a lot of irritation and confusion amongst a village.
Option D) Saanin Approve Challenges When a person wants to challenge the Kage, the Saanin all most get together and determine if the challenge is valid. If it is deemed valid, the battle will take place, otherwise the challenger must run the gauntlet fighting each Saanin after which if he is victorious he gets to fight the Kage for the title.
Option E) Utter Chaos We all run around and name Ton Ton the pig the Kage of every village and he rules the entire Narutoverse with an Iron snout.
Well lemme give u my opinion....There should be 2 options for Kage: 1:Challenge the kage for the position...If they decline alot,then The sannins have the power to vote for a new kage! 2:If the 3 sannins r not impressed with the current kage,then they and the village can VOTE for a new kage,but if the sannins have a stupid reason like if the kage killed him alot of times and doesnt like him anymore,then thats not good.
Terrible, seriously, your whole idea is pathetic, challengeing a Kage is good in theory but really Im sure not everyone loved the Third Hokage but you didnt see anyone challengeing him for supremacy of the title, no they all got over it or left like Orochimaru. Seriously, dont be a challenge nubcake.
Option B is fine, the Staff arent just gonna pick just anybody to be a Kage, responsibile players who are fit to run the villages with diverse personalities adding to the reason for joining a particular village. Ability to win a battle means nothing ultimately, more so the leadership of a person hence why challengeing isnt the stable answer.
